On Monday, April 16, Tolga Kaya, associate professor and founding program director of the Computer Engineering Program, will pin on his 2019 Boston Marathon bib and run 26.2 miles to raise crucial funds for the Sacred Heart student scholarships. Selected from competitive applicant pool of faculty and staff, Tolga is a veteran triathlete that has returned to training to help students pursue their educational dreams.
As Tolga puts in the miles on the pavement, we are rallying a community of supporters behind him that will honor his steadfast dedication to SHU students. The newly created Run for Excellence Scholarship Fund, which will be open to students across the University’s eight Colleges and Schools.
Participation by Sacred Heart in the Boston Marathon has been made possible through the generosity of John Hancock with the endorsement of SHU alumnus Todd Cassler ’01, president of Financial Institutions and Advisory Solutions, John Hancock Investments and member of the Welch College of Business Board of Visitors. John Hancock has been a landmark sponsor of this legendary race for 34 years, and its involvement has provided numerous non-profit organizations like Sacred Heart incredible platforms to generate visibility and fundraise for their organizations.
Please join the team and help Tolga cross the finish line for SHU students.
