Support SHU Women's Lacrosse Alumni, Friends, & Family Campaign!
About Our Campaign
As proud members of the Sacred Heart University Women’s Lacrosse program, we are actively participating in a campaign to raise critical funds for our program. This year our team is striving to raise a total of $32,000 towards a trip to South Carolina over spring break to play Winthrop University.
This is a significant investment and one that will require more help to accomplish. We are building momentum—to date, through our Friends and Family Campaign, clinics, and other initiatives led by our players, we have raised more than $10,000. Additionally, an anonymous donor has earmarked part of a gift toward our program adding $13,500 to our efforts. Combined, we have approximately $23,500 toward the cost of the trip and need to raise an additional $9,000 to make it happen.
Our goals would not be possible without your support. We can’t thank you enough for your consideration in making a gift towards our 2018 spring break trip! These types of trips are not only important because they allow our student-athletes to compete against strong opponents in a warmer climate, they also provide essential team bonding opportunities. Beyond the wins and losses, these experiences help foster relationships that will last a lifetime.
2018 Spring Break Trip Cost Breakdown:
Team meals ($3,300 total* $20/day x 33 people x 4 days), airline tickets ($8,349 total* $253/ticket x 33 people), bag check ($930 total* $25/person + 3 additional bags for sticks/goalie equipment for $35), hotels ($10,200 total* $150/room x 17 rooms x 4 nights), ground transportation to and from the airport ($1,190 total* $595 one way for 38 passenger bus), ground transportation while in North Carolina/South Carolina ($4,945 total*) and our team bonding activity ($3,300 total* $100/person x 33 people).

This season we’re looking forward to a special opportunity to build on last season’s success, as we achieved our second straight berth into the Northeast Conference tournament! To cap off our team’s success, Caitlin Delaney was named First Team All-Conference Midfield and Alyssa Pearce was named Second Team All-Conference Attack. One of our proudest team accomplishments from the 2016-17 season is that we were awarded the NEC GPA Award for Women’s Lacrosse presented to the team with the highest GPA amongst all NEC Women’s Lacrosse teams. With that said, we are excited to welcome many new faces to the SHU Women’s Lacrosse program and bring back a fantastic group of returners. The upcoming year looks promising and we are eager to come together as a team as we strive to make another exciting run at an NEC tournament berth!
For the third straight year, our athletic department received the Northeast Conference Institutional Academic Award with 32 teams combining for a 3.381 GPA. The Institutional Academic Award completed the trifecta of conference honors for our athletic department, as we also captured the Brenda Weare Commissioner's Cup and the NEC Building Communities Award. This marks the second year in a row that we have won all three awards! Needless to say, I am truly proud to represent Sacred Heart University and have high expectations for the future of our program.
On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches, and administrators, thank you so much for your generosity and support of SHU Women’s Lacrosse. We hope to see you at a game, team event, or both this upcoming season!
