Support SHU Wrestling Friends and Family Campaign
As proud members of Sacred Heart University wrestling, we are participating in a campaign to raise critical funds for our program. Your gift will help ensure that our program has the necessary resources to compete at the Division I level and provide key assistance for our operating budget. Your gift will also enable our team to fund more scholarships, purchase new equipment, organize team-bonding experiences, and help subsidize the costs of airfare, hotels, meals, and transportation.
Sacred Heart is the only Catholic university in the nation – and the only university in the state of Connecticut – that offers NCAA Division I wrestling. Last summer, head coach John Clark took over as our new head wrestling coach. Coach has led his wrestling academy to ten state individual championships and one state team championship in only its second year and we are confident that he will continue to grow our wrestling program.
For the third consecutive year, SHU Athletics was honored by the conference with the 2017 NEC Institutional Award for academic excellence. For a record seventh time and second year in a row, we captured the Brenda Weare Commissioner’s Cup, which is the NEC’s highest honor for overall athletic excellence. Highlighted by three NEC Championships on the women’s side, we also won a third straight and record tenth Joan Martin Commissioner’s Cup for athletic excellence in women’s sports.
For our work in the Connecticut community, we earned the NEC Building Communities Award for the sixth time in the award’s seven-year existence. We are proud to represent this remarkable institution and have high expectations for the future of our program. On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches, and administrators here at Sacred Heart, thank you so much for your generosity and support of SHU wrestling!
