Support SHU Men's Fencing
As proud members of Sacred Heart University men’s fencing, we are participating in a campaign to raise critical funds for our program. Your gift will help ensure that our program has the necessary resources to compete at the Division I level and provide key assistance for our operating budget. Your gift will also enable our team to purchase new equipment – such as blades, electric jackets, gloves, and masks – and help subsidize the costs of airfare, hotels, meals, and transportation.
Currently, we are in the midst of our season and preparing for the NEIFC Championships in late February. Last season, our team posted two second-place finishes at the NEIFC Championships and sent four fencers to the NCAA Northeast Regional. As a junior, Tyler Endee was named the Northeast Fencing Conference Male Fencer of the Year after posting a 29-1record in foil. In the classroom, we were recognized by the NCAA and received Public Recognition Awards for scoring in the top ten percent in our sport with respect to Academic Progress Rates.
For the third consecutive year, SHU Athletics was honored by the conference with the 2017 NEC Institutional Award for academic excellence. For a record seventh time and second year in a row, we captured the Brenda Weare Commissioner’s Cup, which is the NEC’s highest honor for overall athletic excellence. Highlighted by three NEC Championships on the women’s side, we also won a third straight and record tenth Joan Martin Commissioner’s Cup for athletic excellence in women’s sports. For our work in the Connecticut community, we earned the NEC Building Communities Award for the sixth time in the award’s seven-year existence.
We are truly proud to represent this remarkable institution and have high expectations for the future of our program. On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches, and administrators here at Sacred Heart, thank you so much for your generosity and support of SHU men’s fencing! Go Pioneers
